M A Phoenix is a spoken word artist, poet, vocalist, and storyteller. She's been immersed in words and songs since she was old enough to speak. Her work centers around the Black experience, community, and Southern living. She's been published in the Windhover Literary Magazine and regularly performs in the local DC area. She is a daughter of the South Carolina Lowcountry and has called the DMV home for the last two decades.
