Our Story

Local Motion Project (LMP) was founded in 2016 by Sara Lavan as a youth dance organization. Under her leadership as Executive and Artistic Director, LMP has grown into a dynamic community hub, offering movement experiences for all ages and skill levels.

Our programming bridges generations, welcoming both trained dancers and those new to movement. As we continue to evolve, we adapt our offerings and teaching approaches to meet the needs of our community, ensuring that dance remains an accessible and enriching experience for all.

Through financial assistance, free programming at William Ramsay Recreation Center, subsidized classes for students with disabilities, and a wide array of free community classes and performances, we are breaking down barriers to ensure that movement, creativity, and expression are within reach for everyone.

However, with only one studio to support all of our programming—including the human resources it takes—we need outside support. Your donation helps us keep classes affordable, expand our free and subsidized programs, and bring the art of dance to even more people in our community.

Every contribution makes a difference. Join us in strengthening our community through movement. Donate today!
