
Ashley Forman
Ashley Forman is a veteran of the education and community engagement department at Arena Stage for over 22 years, where she served as the Director of Education. She is responsible for the design of Voices of Now, Arena’s renowned, devised theater program for young, emerging and professional artists in the D.C. area and beyond. In addition to directing and overseeing over 150 VON productions, Ashley has devised autobiographical, movement-based theater in a variety of countries, including, India, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Peru. She co-designed a public speaking workshop series for diplomats and cultural affairs officers, in partnership with the US department of State, and worked with clinicians at the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing to craft an applied theater curriculum for young people who are grieving. Since 2014, Ashley has served as a visiting artist and guest lecturer at Utah State University, where she works with theater education students and BFA acting students to create and perform ensemble-based theater for inquiry. She is currently serving her second term on the board of directors of the American Alliance for Theater and Education.
In 2024, Ashley founded The Precipice Theater, a theater company dedicated to creating autobiographical theater that incites productive conversation and connects communities around the world.
