LMP teaching artists recently completed 11 youth dance residencies throughout Alexandria. Through a partnership with Alexandria City Public School’s LINK Club, residencies occurred at Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School, Patrick Henry Recreation Center, Ruby Tucker Center, Fifer Learning Center, New Brookside Apartments. Additional residencies have occurred at River Farm Cooperative School and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnus Lower School.
Co-artistic directors, Sara Lavan and Kylie Murray, have been facilitating monthly classes at Friends of Guest House which serves women who are re-entering the community after incarceration. The classes provide active education rooted in functional movement and building community through dance.
On Saturday, October 2 Sara and Kylie filmed the TEDx Talk “A Creative Process: Collaboration and Improvisation.” Dancers, Silvia Burstein-Hendi and Ila M. Conoley, helped to demonstrate our process of creating work the combines contemporary modern dance and text. Stay tuned for viewing information.

This workshop is designed to give you a secure & detailed understanding of aerial hammock fundamentals. In this workshop you will learn basic techniques for getting in and out of beginner poses. Components include basic stretching, sitting, standing, conditioning and inversion poses on the hammock.
